R-C – January 2018

Early on Saturday morning, everybody met up at the Elks lodge and rides were arranged. After everything was decided, we drove up to R-C, which is a small camp with cabins that is just east of Payson. Our troop stayed at the van Ness lodge and the scouts picked their rooms and the adults all stayed in another room. After everything was set up, many scouts played games, such as football outside or just stayed to socialize in their rooms. There was a compass course led by the leadership patrol (beavers), in which the scouts got to practice navigation. Soon, it was time for dinner and the first year scouts cooked fantastic spaghetti with meatballs and marinara sauce. Everybody either sat by the fire or went back to their rooms to hang out. In a little bit, everyone gathered around the fire and Kennon told an interesting story about how the camp was founded and after that there was a beading ceremony. Most people retired to their rooms and slowly settled to bed. In the morning, pancakes were served and everybody packed up. When everything was cleaned up, the troop headed back to the Elks in Phoenix. All of the scouts got picked up and went home.
